New Day Foundation - Ecuador
Latin AmericaNew Day Foundation works in conjunction with the government to provide support, guidance, and the Word of God to families in crisis.
My husband and I came to Ecuador in 2012 after receiving a call of God to work with Dan and Teresa Susong in the Foundation Con Destino. I taught in the high school, Colegio Nuevo Mundo, from 2013 through 2022. During this time, we encountered children that had been abandoned by their parents and were living alone or on the street.   We asked these children to live with us, and by the time we were caring for 6 children we felt we should start our own foundation to work with troubled families and prevent abandonment, abuse, and neglect.
This was the birth of our foundation, Nuevo Dia, New Day Foundation. In 2016, the foundation was approved by the government of Ecuador.  We continue to work in conjunction with the government to provide support, guidance, and the Word of God to families in crisis.
After the devastating earthquake of 2016, we began to work in Pedernales, on the coast of Ecuador. Through a coworker’s efforts, we were given 2000 square meters of land by the municipal government of Pedernales to raise up our foundation in the city. Since then we have built three houses, a dining room, and a commercial kitchen on the property. The coworker moved his church onto the property and has many outreach projects for the community. Through his evangelism efforts a church was started in Churo, a community on the coast about 30 minutes from Pedernales.
Our foundation was given land in Churo, and we built a church and a medical clinic there. Recently we worked with three other churches to start a Celebrate Recovery in Sangolqui. We have seen many miracles of deliverance from the bondage of alcoholism and drug addiction through this ministry.
In 2021, my husband, Steve, was in a tragic accident here in Ecuador and is now in the presence of the Lord. Despite his death, the work continues.  For us, the highlight of our ministry is seeing kids that were living on the street and on drugs now serving the Lord and watching whole families be changed by the power of God. We are thankful for the guidance and provision of the Holy Spirit during all these years. All the glory and honor belong to Him!
