Casa Shalom Orphanage
Latin America - GuatemalaCasa Shalom is a home for orphaned, abandoned, abused, and neglected boys and girls. Located in the beautiful mountains of Guatemala, Casa Shalom is a refuge and a safe haven for children from across the country. The home was opened in 1986 to care for orphans of Guatemala’s 36-year-long civil war.
All children at Casa Shalom receive a nutritious diet, medical and dental care, Christ-centered therapy, education, and job-skills training. Most importantly, they’re introduced to Jesus as their Lord and Savior and raised to be Christ-following, educated young men and women!
One of the many stories we could share is about a baby boy born in Guatemala City in February of 2006. His parents abandoned him in a suitcase on the side of the road. Shortly after he was found, he was brought to Casa Shalom where he was named Tony. Tony was raised at Casa Shalom with love, a good education, and the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! He has grown into a hard-working, compassionate young man who loves Jesus and is the best “big brother” to all the children at the orphanage. Today, he’s in school to become an engineer!
