Nearly 700 years prior to the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem of Judea, the prophet Isaiah foretold of this newsworthy event. He wrote in his prophecy, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold a virgin will conceive, be with child and bring forth a son and she shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).
This prophecy was confirmed in Matthew 1:23 and the name Immanuel was translated to mean “God with us.” This is good news! God is with us.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that Jesus Christ doesn’t change; as He was yesterday, He is today and will be tomorrow. That’s good news! Christ was with us yesterday, He is with us today and will be with us tomorrow.
I pray during this Christmas season that you and your loved ones will be keenly aware God is with you. He’s never left you alone. Nothing that comes your way ever catches Him by surprise. He has a plan. You can take hope in His love and care for you. That’s good news!
