At the time in his life when many ministers slow their pace, E.L. was the opposite. His heart was focused on missions, and he spent his latter years raising funds and ministering to those in South America, Peru, and Africa. At Christmas, parties were provided for pastors and their families, the feeding centers, and the orphanages in South America. In Peru, E.L. established feeding programs, built churches, and assisted Bible schools. Every year, he supplied bicycles to Africa.
E.L.’s current interest was the remodeling of the FACES foundation in Ecuador. The team is working now, and E.L. called every day to check on the progress. He was looking forward to conducting the dedication service to be held in September. Missionary and director of FACES, Dan Susong, said of E.L.: “He was like a father to me, and a huge help to FACES!” Iglesia Brisas del Mantaro had this to say: “A great man of God is now with Jesus. You have fought a good fight. You have finished the race. You have kept the faith!”
Licensed at age 25, during his ministerial years E.L. preached 4,807 sermons with 8,536 converted/restored, 265 baptized in water, and he affected countless lives by his missions endeavors. According to the best records of Church of God World Missions, between 1996 and 2017, E. L. Turner raised the better part of 2.7 million dollars for missions.
