It is with great sadness that Church of God World Missions announces the passing of Rodney Friend.

Rodney served with his wife, Carol, as a missionary for over 30 years, both in Europe and Africa. Most recently, he was the president of the Bethel Theological College in Zambia.

Church of God World Missions Director Dr. David M. Griffis said, “Rodney Friend‘s life has continued the great tradition of Church of God missionaries who lead a life of selflessness, sacrifice and courage. There are people in the areas where Rodney ministered who received the Gospel because of his commitment to tell the story of Jesus Christ. Church of God World Missions celebrates his life and expresses our deepest sympathy and gratitude to his family.”

Assistant Director Dr. M. Thomas Propes said, “Rodney Friend was a true Christian gentleman and an eternal gift to Church of God World Missions. Our loss is heaven’s gain.”

In addition to his work on the mission field, Rodney served in South Dakota, Maine, and Michigan.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Carol, his daughter, Leslie, and his son, Daniel.

Visitation will be held at Houghton Lake Church of God in Houghton Lake, Michigan on Friday, January 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 25 at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

If you would like to honor Rodney’s memory, donations may be made through Church of God World Missions to the Rodney Friend Memorial Fund, Project #102-9556.
