“He is not here: for He is risen, as He said … Go quickly, tell his disciples He is risen from the dead; behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him.” Matthew 28:6-7

“Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ‘All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.’” Matthew 28:18-19

After all the years the disciples were with Jesus, like much of the world today, they just didn’t get it. Here was the foretold Savior and He was going to establish His Kingdom on earth, and likely, they too would reap benefits from the takeover. But, that’s not how it happened.

It wasn’t until His parting farewell that they realized what His life truly was about … offering himself as a sacrifice for atonement, and then, spreading the Good News of salvation and life in eternity for every person and child on the face of the earth.

Have you ever experienced a defining moment when something actually “hits” you? You’ve been around it, but never really realized the full impact. But, when you grasp the knowledge, the feeling is indescribable. One has to believe it was that way for the disciples at His parting farewell and those who eventually joined in the Great Commission.

Revelation too wonderful for words not only filled them with joy and wonder, it also catapulted them into one of the greatest revivals of all time. Their zeal was unrestrained, and today, you and I also receive from their obedience.

The Great Commission, His parting farewell, is still in place for individuals and churches open to its dynamics. Just as we look to Easter for its inception, we must daily move forward in its intensity … souls are relying on us, and eternity with the Lord and Savior is waiting!
