Following the 2018 General Assembly, Thomas Gillum comes to World Missions to fill the position as a field representative having previously served as administrative bishop of South Carolina, Missouri and the North Central Region. His ministry journey includes 21 years pastoring at the Leavittsburg Church of God in Ohio and state director of Evangelism and Home Missions in Northern Ohio.
Bishop Gillum earned his bachelor’s degree from Lee University and a master’s degree in Missions from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee. Exhibiting a pastor’s heart in all he sets his hand to accomplish, his ministry has spanned 38 years.
Coming from a United Methodist background, Tom was saved at age 20, and soon after was filled with the Holy Spirit, receiving his call to preach. In 2002, he was given the Evangelism Recognition Award.
Gillum is married to Cathy who is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a graduate of Kent State University. During their tenure in Ohio, she served as evangelism coordinator. Tom and Cathy have three adult children: Christa and husband, Kevin, Tricia and husband, Skylar, and Michael and wife, Brittany. They also have seven grandchildren: Cole, Cullen, Crosby, Cavanaugh, Noah, Libby Elise, and Eliza Jean.
Tom has always had a love for missions, yet his role did not seem to be following a path as a missionary. Humble and desiring to fulfill God’s call upon his life, Thomas Gillum moves forward in his ministry of missions with World Missions.
