Moscow is a major political, economic, and scientific center for Eastern Europe. She is the 11th most populated city in the world. Moscow is no less important to the World Missions cause of SEND THE LIGHT TO THE CITIES project. The COG leadership in Moscow has cast an aggressive vision. Currently, there are 30 active congregations in this great city. Churches continue to be organized and planted. The goal is to plant 10 new churches within the next four years.
The Eurasia Theological Seminary in Moscow continues to advance and has an enrollment of more than 400 students, many of whom are preparing for full-time ministry within the churches. Its status was changed to “Accredited” in May 2017. The seminary continues to prepare the way for greater church growth and development within Eastern Europe.
Russia’s church planting program at ETSM works in conjunction with Cornerstone Ministries. The seminary is one of the few evangelical schools in Russia that is licensed by the Russian Ministry of Education and is fully accredited, as well as serving as a center of ministerial and lay training for many denominations at various locations across the country.
Field Director Dr. Stephen Darnell states the Church of God in Russia has identified and engaged two Siberian Unreached People Groups (Khakas and Tuvinians), already planting churches among them.
