Gene Mills and his wife, Tanya, have been serving as the director of Discipleship College since the General Assembly of 2010. Discipleship College is the designated degree-granting institution for the Superintendency of East Africa for the Church of God serving 11 nations. Gene is also the National Education Director of Kenya coordinating the educational ministries of that country.
Since the age of 16 he has served in a variety of roles in the church including pastor, associate pastor, youth and children’s pastor, and minister of benevolence. He has also served as a district youth director and a state youth board member. Gene previously taught at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Lee University, Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, and Chaminade University of Honolulu. Bringing this wealth of experience to the position, Gene and Tanya are laboring to train ministerial leaders for building the Kingdom of God throughout the region.
Gene and Tanya met on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii while his father was the pastor in Ewa Beach. They were married in 1991. Tanya serves the college as the Registrar and Accountant. They have two teenage children, Amber, currently a student at Lee University, and Nathanael, a high school student.
