Church of God World Missions has chosen the city of Paris as one of the Send the Light to the Cities effort.
Send the Light to the Cities is a belief and strategy focusing on major cities around the world with the people and resources God gives so they serve as lighthouse cities. WM director Dr. David M. Griffis says, “We will evangelize, plant birthing churches, and provide an evangelism and training center in each one of them.”
City of Light, the name commonly given to Paris, is a city that greatly needs the true Light. With a population over 12 million, Muslims represent four to five million, or one third. Islam is the second largest religion of France; Catholicism is the focal faith of the city. One of the most beautiful and popular edifices in the world is the Cathedral of Notre Dame, beating the Eiffel Tower with 13 million visitors each year.
Tensions between the French and Muslim activists are increasing. Evangelical Christians are few; however, Pentecostals and charismatics are the fastest growing, even though the Bible is unfamiliar to most of the French.
The school of ministry of the Church of God was born in the Paris region in September 2016, and is essential in training a new generation of servants.
What You Can Do
Pray. There is no substitute for fervent prayer about the millions of people who do not have the light of Christ shining in their lives.
Give. Your donations will meet specific needs for Paris to be a lighthouse city. There are people ready to give themselves to this mission. We can send and support, they will go and give. Land and buildings will be purchased or built. Ministers, workers, and ministries will be trained and supported.
