Church of God World Missions has chosen the city of Prague as one of the Send the Light to the Cities effort.
Send the Light to the Cities is a belief and strategy focusing on major cities around the world with the people and resources God gives so they serve as lighthouse cities. WM director Dr. David M. Griffis says, “We will evangelize, plant birthing churches, and provide an evangelism and training center in each one of them.”
Considered one of the most developed economies in Central Europe, Prague, Czech Republic is classified as an alpha-global city. As the capital city, she is home to over two million people and is called the City of a Hundred Spires.
The country has not been a particularly religious society for hundreds of years, and has one of the least religious populations in the world. It has the third most atheistic population by percentage and is indifferent toward religion.
A church in Prague has been organized and is pastored by Jerry Lillard. Currently a true harvest field awaits, and Christian leadership development is a key to growth. Dynamic church planting paired with creative ministry – for example, teaching English and business as missions – will bring a harvest.
What You Can Do
Pray. There is no substitute for fervent prayer about the millions of people who do not have the light of Christ shining in their lives.
Give. Your donations will meet specific needs for Prague to be a lighthouse city. There are people ready to give themselves to this mission. We can send and support, they will go and give. Land and buildings will be purchased or built. Ministers, workers, and ministries will be trained and supported.
