In 1999 on a short-term missions trip to Peru, Wayne and Phyllys Wozniak felt the burden and desire to return to full-time missions. The Lord used several things to confirm their calling: He helped them sell their house, cars, and furniture, and raise missions support in a two-month time. As God moved others to fast and pray, He also touched the Wozniaks’ daughters, placing in them a desire to go as well.
In April 2000, the Church of God Bible Institute in Peru was reopened, with the Wozniaks serving as directors. During their eight years of ministry in the country, a total of 125 students graduated from the three-year program. Today, 105 of them are working in full-time ministry.
World Missions asked Wayne and Phyllys to pray about going to Colombia to start a Bible institute in August 2007. Reluctant at first, the couple has no doubts it was the Lord who sent them to this country.
The opportunities for ministry in Colombia are overwhelming. The Wozniaks have preached and taught in churches, district and national conventions, youth camps, and retreats. In August 2009, Berea Bible School was opened. Today there are 35 students training to be pastors and church planters.
Wayne and Phyllys also share the task of carrying sound biblical doctrine and ministerial training to those already active in ministry. They travel throughout the country teaching training seminars for pastors and leaders. The honor of equipping God’s people for ministry is the Wozniaks’ greatest joy.
