We (Kevin and Jennifer Teachey) live in the Highlands of Scotland in Nairn where we pastor the Nairn Church of God. The spiritual need is great in this place where Charlie Chaplin loved to vacation back in the day, as only 300 hundred out of 12,000 individuals (2.5 %) attend church. How do we reach those who do not see their need to be saved? By teaching one at a time for Christ; by getting to know the local merchants; by presenting in the schools as I do; by prayer and strong messages from the pulpit; by passing out tracts on High Street; and of course, by real Christian love.

We believe our purpose is to dedicate our lives to spreading the gospel here and to pastor this small multi-cultural church with families from Nigeria (by way of South Africa) and from India in it. That is why we use John 13:14-15 as our missions ministry theme verses. Christ, our Teacher, showed us the way by humbly washing dirty feet as an example and as an act of God’s amazing mercy. Teach One for Christ is our project name because that is our goal: to reach and teach one soul at a time for the glory of God.

In a country that birthed revivals and had men of God like John Knox and Duncan Campbell, today, there is a dearth of spiritual vitality in the land. The old Scotland and the woke Scotland compete much like the battle that rages around the world. Yet, we have been told our excitement is “refreshing and a breath of fresh air” as we minister not only to our own church but to other churches in town. We walk with each individual and family. Our neighbors (including an atheist) seek us out for conversation, and we listen.

Raised as a Church of God pastor’s kid in North Carolina, I graduated from Lee University and later married my wife, Jennifer, who was raised Baptist and earned her undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Maranatha Baptist University. Now with two kids, Ryan and Quinn Noelle, our vision is to live and die in Scotland. I am Ordained and my wife is an Exhorter in the Church of God. We are committed to this work.
