Tommy Smith_0313Of course, it’s won’t, but to missionaries and regional superintendent in Indonesia, Tommy and Poppi Smith, Christmas is upon them!

The Smiths are investing in precious children, one child at a time. In 2004, they began a Christmas outreach and haven’t missed a year since. Recently, Tommy accompanied Poppi on a Christmas shopping trip to a wholesale market in Jakarta, to begin shopping for their annual “CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS.” For more than a decade, the Smiths’ ministry has provided Christmas each year to 2,000-plus needy Indonesian children from urban slums and rural villages across the archipelago. During these celebrations, Tommy and Poppi proclaim the Gospel message of the miracle birth of Jesus and tangibly share the love, hope, and joy of Christ.

A combination of a Christmas party and a children’s revival, the Gospel is presented in an age-appropriate manner, and each child is prayed over. POPPI’S KITCHEN feeds the children a “Christmas Meal,” and every child takes home both a goodie bag of snacks and a useful gift.

The blessings of the Lord, along with Poppi’s strategic shopping and hard work, as well as favorable exchange rates, enable the Smiths to keep the cost per child at only $10 USD. Preparing for these events takes several months … gifts must be processed, counted, graded by age, sorted into boy and girl collections, and assembled ready for wrapping. Each present is wrapped as a gift, then packed as part of a shipment to the destination of the celebration. Each celebration location is different, as are the number of expected attendees. It takes a lot of calculation during this processing stage and it takes time. Once wrapped and packed, everything should be shipped two months in advance. Time is already running out, so please help this wonderful outreach by donating funds to help provide Christmas for needy children.
