In partnering with Haven of Hope International Orphanage in Bolivia, Church of God World Missions congratulates them on 13 years of ministry! One of the reasons the orphanage is able to celebrate this period of ministry is because caring people have adopted it as a contributing partner in Global Ministry to orphans.
Funds for the children’s home are raised in unusual ways, such as Thom Pear and Bill Sawyer who completed a 12.5 mile endurance swim around Key West to raise money for the children’s needs. Other athletic, energetic, and big-hearted men, Tom Klamet and Stan Heyman, provided warm clothes, blankets, and Bibles for all the children. In addition, they sealed up, weatherized the windows, and hung heavy curtains to shield the children from the chilly approaching winter.
Recently, a team of 15 individuals from SW Florida traveled to the orphanage located in Santa Cruz. To show their appreciation to the workers for their dedication, the team taught new crafts to the children, took the staff and children on a number of fun outings, conducted a medical outreach clinic, brainstormed about vocational options and sustainability projects, and also completed a number of much-needed painting projects.
A ”missions-minded construction ‘Dream Team’“ is returning in the fall to renovate the old Chapel into a necessary administrative building, as well as renovate the old kitchen into a combination computer lab, library, and study area for the children.
Another construction project lurking in the wings is for the building of a separate boys’ dormitory. As the young boys at the orphanage reach the age of 12, the Bolivian government requires alternative housing arrangements be made for them, since they do not want teenage boys and girls living in the same dormitory.
The incredible Haven of Hope Orphanage is making an eternal difference in the lives of these children. The staff feel blessed to be able to serve them.
