Jax Griffis, soon-to-be 6-year-old grandson of International World Missions Director Dr. David M. and Judy Griffis, was recently hospitalized with kidney stones. Jax has health challenges, but he is a strong, formidable little boy. The stones were caused by the medicines he must take, and, as a result, he is now facing immediate surgery on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 12 noon. (Dr. Griffis has informed World Missions of the following: Thank you for all continued prayers for Jax. His surgery is delayed. He has pulmonary issues and low oxygen levels and needs stabilization.)
A couple of years ago, Judy, his grandmother, made the initial donation to start a small goat farm at one of our Church of God orphanages, El Shaddai, in Central India. The farm was dedicated in honor of Jax, because all the boys at the farm come from challenging circumstances, too. The goat farm teaches them personal responsibility, animal husbandry, and it empowers them to earn money for themselves.
Jax’s story also inspires the boys at the farm to take advantage of every opportunity in their growth and development, in spite of hardships. What a beautiful way to recognize Jax and his challenges.
